Wine is... one of the most natural things of the world.
-Ernest Hemingway
We are always looking for new ways to lessen our environmental footprint, and we are tapping into Long Island itself to do so. Duck Walk North uses geothermal energy for heating and cooling, pumping well water from deep beneath the vineyards that then returns to the earth, a zero-emissions system that has drastically reduced our use of fossil fuels.
Duck Walk Vineyards is also environmentally friendly where it counts the most: in the vineyards themselves. We grow specially-selected grasses between the rows of grape vines which naturally enrich the soil with nitrogen, replacing chemical fertilizers.
We believe that by taking care of the environment, Duck Walk Vineyards is rewarded with exceptional grapes that we transform into our delicious wine.
